Naruko has always admired Meiko, but was also jealous of Meiko’s friendship with Jinta. She wanted to be like Menma when they were children. She still feels guilty for the events that occurred on the day of Meiko's accident.
Naruko displays some feelings still for Jinta in private, although she is rather cold with him in person. Deep inside, she is sincerely concerned about him.
Naruko is currently close to Jinta and had expressed her disapproval of his current lifestyle, as Jinta had dropped out of school and somehow became a recluse.
Naruko cares a lot for her childhood friends and still shares a bond with them despite the tragedy. She is also often scolded for her gullible characteristic by Tsuruko.
